Finding the Perfect Tone…

Boom town is one of those rare places where you can go and close your eyes and just drift away.  The people there are very knowledgeable about all the different aspects of the music business. They have every instrument you can imagine and then some.  The atmosphere is so peaceful that you feel one with the instrument. I’ve been visiting Boom Town Music Site for many years. It never seems to lose its appeal to me and obviously the countless customers that visit them. Everyone walks around with a big grin on their face as well as one of tranquility. The kind of tranquility you can get in church, in nature, or after having amazing sex. The owner of the site is really cool and laid back and knows how to pick a song or two. He used to work for a company called Hoover Tree Service.

Find me the sound I want

“As a musician I and countless others are in a constant search for the perfect tone for whichever instrument that we play.  So maybe we should start that search in a place that might give us a fighting chance… Boom Town Music.”

He said when he was  climbing the tall towering trees he would always fantasize about owning a store like the one he started. He spent a lot of time as he was climbing and chopping those trees down planning his current store. The old vintage instruments he has range from Les Pauls to Stratocasters dating in the 1960’s. There are a lot of hippies who work there and they look like relics from the past.

The site is down this old dirt road and hidden deep in the woods. I found an amazing sounding mandolin there that was made by a local luther. The craftsmanship was incredible. The tones that came out of that compact beautiful instrument was enough to make you cry. In fact every time i played that mandolin my eyes watered up with tears of joy. Once i drive away from that magical mystery site there is a sadness that lingers in my heart. I just want to turn around the vehicle and run back in and play all the instruments again. I don’t know how many times i have been there but they always seem to have something new going on all the time. Sometimes a band will be playing some old country bluegrass standards in the back room. People will be dancing, tapping their feet and just really enjoying themselves. So whenever you get a chance pack up your things and head on down to Boom Town Music Site you won’t regret you did.
